The role of this Personal Care Assistant
Our personal care assistants join our client’s support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only. There are 3 posts available, 25hrs, 26hrs and 18hrs, the shifts will be agreed in advance on a 2 week rota. The rota is flexible and will be accommodated to suit all PA’s, however you should be available to work on any day of the week. The shifts will be to cover day and evenings only.
About the Client and Duties
Our client is a young lady is her 20’s who has Muscular Dystrophy. She lives at home with her family and has many interests including writing, poetry and fanfiction. She enjoys watching films and listening to much and audio books.
It is desirable that candidates have previous care experience and you should be committed, enthusiastic and be able to show sensitivity and consideration towards our client along with being respectful of her privacy at all times.
Training and Support:
We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:
• Full induction
• Safeguarding Adults
• Health & Safety / First Aid / Food Hygiene / Physiotherapy
• Moving & Handling with Hoist / Appliance Aid
• Ventilation / Cough Assist / Oral Suction / Nebuliser
• Epilepsy Awareness / Congenital Muscular Dystrophy
• Personal Care / Administration of Suppositories
Gastrostomy Care / Medication Administer via PEG
All training must be completed before the start date, with training hours paid at minimum wage
Requirements:
• This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 – there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female workers only
• Drivers are not essential
• It is desirable that you have previous care experience, however this is not essential as full training and shadowing will be provided
• The family have a cat so you should be happy to work around cats with no allergies
• Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
• You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality
