What's involved with this role: Pay rate £23.91 - £26.03 per hour depending on experience Interim Registered Building Control Officer Reference no: Oldham 0009 B73E / 1 Pay Rate: £26.03 per hour PAYE 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for up to 6 months City: OLDHAM Hybrid You willarry out the Building Control function in the Borough. Ensuring that work on site and on submitted plans satisfy the Building Regulations and associated legislation. Key Responsibilities: Based on validated competence, without direct supervision examine applications and plans and undertake inspections of building work to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and other associated legislation. Support the LABC Partnership scheme by advising partners on appropriate solutions for specific projects. Either inside the level of competence, or outside of it but under supervision to take enforcement action for breaches of Building Regulations and other associated legislation including: conducting interviews in accordance with the provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act; the preparation and submission of evidence and attending court to present evidence. Assist in the training and development of Trainee Building Control Officers Undertake and assist with such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Building Control Manager, including the performance of duties outside of normal working hours Key requirements: Degree or equivalent in a Construction related discipline Full membership of RICS / ABE / CIOB or equivalent An up to date portfolio of CPD evidence Knowledge and understanding of the application of Building Control legislation and procedure relating to dangerous buildings, dilapidated structures and the demolition of structures. Knowledge and understanding of fire safety inspections and audits Knowledge and understanding of enforcement action required for breaches of Building Regulations including conducting PACE interviews Experience of working within a building control service dealing with a wide range of building control applications Experience of applying Building Control legislation to complex projects Experience of interpreting plans and advising applicants on regulatory issues Developed communication skills with the ability to negotiate and mediate with professionals, clients and the public.
