(HB989886) Deputy Head of Financial Management
Walsall Healthcare Trust is a forward-thinking Trust which has undergone a team restructure in the finance department resulting in the creation of an exciting opportunity for 2 Deputy Heads of Financial Management. Each role will lead on two clinical divisions (nominally elective and non-elective), manage a small team (c5 people) to provide financial support and work closely with the Head of Financial Management, deputising on trust wide matters were appropriate.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018 and there has been an extension of a Neonatal Unit. A brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which will open in Autumn 2022.
Key areas of responsibilities will include:
Working as a business partner to one division and having oversight of a second to ensure value for money, appropriate financial control, develop business cases.
Able to have challenging conversations to ensure efficiency targets are achieved.
Responsibility for management, development, training, and performance of the staff accountable to them.
Taking on wider responsibilities on behalf of the Head of FM and finance as a whole.
You will be able to demonstrate:
CCAB qualification with at least five years PQE at management level.
NHS experience or other highly regulated, complex sector.
The ability to lead in business planning and budget setting.
Experience of leading a team and keeping them motivated.
The ability to make decisions quickly and assess the implications of those decisions; based on the best information available.
Excellent communication skills with financial and non-financial staff.
