Clinical Nurse Specialist - Haemodialysis
We are recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Haemodialysis who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be expected to be a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programs and undertaking specialist nursing procedures. This includes providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff, as well as the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students. You will be responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence-based care, and required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in your own specialist area.

Main duties of the job
1. Assess individual patient care needs and medications.
2. Develop, implement and evaluate clinical management plans of care for a group of patients dialysing in-centre or at our satellite units in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines.
3. In the absence of senior staff, take responsibility for the delegation and supervision of appropriate work to other qualified staff, healthcare support workers and students.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Advanced clinical assessment.
* Non-medical prescribing.
* Teaching qualification.
Previous Experience
* Significant experience in caring for patients requiring haemodialysis treatment.
* Ability to act on own initiative with evidence of sound decision-making abilities.
* Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences.
* Knowledge in quality assurance of patient dialysis treatment.
Skills
* Physiological assessment of acutely unwell patients.
* Ability to communicate effectively - excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage potentially difficult situations.
* Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and/or treatments.
* Demonstrate a flexible approach, able to react to the changing needs of the department.
* Ability to liaise and work with the multidisciplinary team, making recommendations to enhance the smooth running and management of the unit.
* Ability to manage self and others in the delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet department expectations.
Knowledge
* Patient focused - committed to ensuring a positive hospital experience for patients and the relatives/carers.
