About the role:
* Hourly Rate: £18.06 per hour
* Location: Ballymena (Travel across other NIHE locations in Northern Ireland may be required)
* Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week, Monday to Friday
* Holidays: 35 days pro rata
* Duration: Temporary, ongoing

Duties will include:
Policy & Procedure Development:
* Develop, implement, and review Health & Safety policies, procedures, and guidance for construction activities to ensure statutory compliance and best practice.
Site Inspections & Risk Management:
* Conduct regular site inspections, produce compliance reports, and issue corrective action plans. Intervene to halt unsafe work and mitigate imminent risks.
Incident Management & Investigations:
* Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and the compilation of evidence. Provide expert recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and support legal processes when required.
Training & Communication:
* Design and deliver internal Health & Safety training. Actively participate in meetings and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and ongoing improvement.
Support & Administration:
* Advise on the interpretation of Health & Safety legislation (including CDM (NI) 2016), review key construction documentation, and maintain records and performance indicators. Deputise for the Health & Safety Manager as needed.
Criteria:
* Qualifications: A Level 6 (or equivalent) degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or evidence of progressing toward completion within 12 months.
* Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Advisor/Officer role in construction, including site inspections, report generation, and training delivery.
* Professional Membership: Current membership with IOSH.
* Skills: Strong planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Mobility: Valid driving license or reliable transport.
Desirable:
* NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety Management.
* Experience working in a large, multi-site organisation.
