Roundabout Preschool is a lively and friendly Preschool set within the grounds of Sir Robert Hitcham Primary School in Debenham, Suffolk. We cater for 2-5 year olds, during term time. We are looking to find a new bank staff member to help cover sickness, holidays or when we need an extra pair of hands. There may be some opportunities for holiday work in the near future. Main duties:
1. To assist the pre-school manager in offering a caring, stimulating and inclusive environment, providing opportunities for all children to achieve their full potential.
2. To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people, following the setting’s policies and procedures.
3. To help set up the indoor and outside learning environments for the daily programmes and to help tidy away at the end of the session.
4. To liaise closely with parents/carers ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
5. To follow all pre-school policies and procedures including those regarding safeguarding and confidentiality and report any concerns to the pre-school manager.
6. To assist with the planning of the curriculum and provide stimulating and creative educational opportunities for all children within an inclusive environment.
7. To attend all relevant meetings and training sessions.
8. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learned as part of the job.
9. To promote positive values and attitudes, dealing promptly with any conflicts and incidents following the setting’s policies.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential
1. Level 2 Qualification in Childcare (Early years).
2. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
3. Proven and relevant experience of working directly with children under 5.
4. Friendly, flexible team player.
5. Commitment to Equal Opportunities and an understanding of religious and cultural diversity.
6. Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desirable
1. Experience of observation and assessment of the developmental needs of children.
2. Safeguarding Children Certificate.
3. Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
4. Food Hygiene Certificate.
This post will be subject to a DBS Enhanced Disclosure and two written references.
