Full time or Part time
An opportunity has arisen within the English and Media faculty for a committed and enthusiastic full or part time teacher of both the subjects, with a possible allowance or TLR for leadership within Media. The English and Media faculty at Helena Romanes School consists of passionate subject specialists who have a wealth of expertise in different aspects of teaching and learning. This post would be suitable for either an ECT, someone looking to return to teaching or an experienced colleague. We welcome Early Careers Teachers and have a number of experienced mentors on our staff. Helena Romanes School is committed to developing all its staff and has a rigorous, evidence-informed CPD programme as well as leadership opportunities for ambitious individuals.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and committed to delivering high quality lessons to promote the best outcomes for students. There are career progression opportunities within the departments and the possibility of leadership responsibilities within Media in the future.
Media Studies is currently taught from Year 9, at KS4 and 5 using the EDUQAS specification for exam years. The department delivers a challenging and stimulating curriculum at KS3 to stretch our able students but teachers pride themselves on being adept at ensuring appropriate adaptations are made for students of all abilities and needs. We set lessons which progress students rapidly to aspirational learning outcomes and are looking for a candidate who can contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum.
It is an exciting time to join Helena Romanes School as we have a new building commissioned by the DofE and the prospect of moving into state-of-the-art new premises is on the horizon. The primary phase is scheduled to move in the academic year 2025-26 with the secondary phase not long afterwards. The school is a warm and inclusive place to work and there are a range of benefits such as ample on site parking and proximity to the town’s leisure centre, in addition to a generous 50% discount on wraparound care fees for children of staff in the primary phase.
