THE OPPORTUNITY Manufacturing Launch Engineer We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Launch Engineer to join our team here at Swift Group at a very exciting time in our industry The ideal candidate would be a highly driven self-starter with a collaborative attitude who has excellent problem solving skills. The successful candidate will work within the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure a smooth, efficient and timely build of manufactured products and components within the production environment. They will be responsible for establishing and ensuring the agreed Engineering and Quality standards are met, and where possible exceeded, across all product ranges. There will be a need to troubleshoot and problem solve issues as they arise to minimise disruption and delays. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES · Ensure the trouble-free introduction of new and changed products with minimal disruption to production efficiency and output · Define the processes and methods to achieve efficiency in build and assembly, ensuring that critical aspects are appropriately controlled · Create manufacturing processes which are written clearly and concisely, and released in a timely manner · Recommend and implement process improvements, which lead to cost reduction and increased production efficiency · Undertake process training for production staff, and ensure that operatives fully understand the process and the importance and risks of failure to adhere to the process · To support and actively assess, record and communicate engineering change requests from manufacture. · To support the Launch Engineers through the manufacture of show van builds capturing, communicating and ensuring issues are resolved as they arise. · Work with the Launch Engineers to ensure all tooling, jigs, assembly rigs and fixtures are developed, agreed, proven and available in time for manufacture · Support line managers and Quality inspectors as required to build of culture of quality · Maintain Kan-Bans, identify current and future requirements whilst being mindful of obsolescence · Document electronically all COSHH MSDS in a timely manner. Be vigilant reporting any potential non-compliant materials found in the production environment · Undertake new product evaluation requests and line trials, reporting results in a timely manner · Actively reduce waste in all its forms by championing lean manufacturing and value engineering techniques · Support supplier visits and audits as and when required · Support the definition of gang manning levels through the PSL system · Work alongside the NPD Engineering Team to specify sealant and adhesives, including process definition, testing and approval working with suppliers · Reduce overall warranty costs and look for ways to reduce claims coming into the business · Demonstrate flexibility where required to work in all areas of the business to achieve project goals · Meet your health & safety responsibilities and co-operate with management to achieve a healthy and safe workplace, taking reasonable care of yourself and others · Support Quality Panels and their ongoing action plans · Foster working relationships with Manufacturing and Design Development departments and external suppliers QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE · Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Engineering disciplines preferred · Minimum three years relevant experience of manufacturing and management within the caravan, automotive or related industry · Experience of best practice engineering tools and techniques and able to demonstrate skills and capabilities and practical skills with knowledge and capabilities to use typical production equipment and tools · Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, Health and Safety at Work Act and Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Continuous Improvement tools · Strong verbal, written communication and reporting skills · Ability to break down barriers to change and be robust when required, negotiate, plan and manage resources · Ability to work under pressure, to deadlines, whilst maintaining management disciplines · Fully IT literature ideally with advanced skills in MS Office and Project software · Experience of 3D CAD (PTC Creo) would be beneficial but not essential
