Are you a band Registered Nurse looking for career development in Adult Mental Health Specialising in Eating Disorder? Located within the grounds of Addenbrookes Hospital in the vibrant City of Cambridge, Ward S provides exceptional career development opportunities in the care of adults experiencing difficulties associated with an eating disorder.
Ward S is a -bed mixed-gender in-patient unit for adults aged +. It is a specialist unit for individuals with a severe eating disorder who need an intensive, specialised, and supportive approach to the treatment and recovery. Due to the nature of their illness, our patients are at high risk physically and psychologically.
The focus during the stay on the ward is ongoing assessment, treatment, care, and recovery, enabling service users to attain a position in which they feel safe and able to take on the challenges that exist for them in the community.
We are looking to recruit experienced or newly qualified, enthusiastic, compassionate, and motivated band RN’s to join our team and in return we will provide you with excellent personal and career development opportunities.
Working within the Specialist services at S will give post holders the opportunity to practice a full range of core mental health nursing skills, physical nursing skills including NG feeds, and to gain experience in risk assessment, management, and recovery-focused interventions.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing high-quality evidence-based nursing advice, support, and care for patients with mental health and physical health needs.
2. Establishing therapeutic relationships with service users and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions with appropriate boundaries in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Councils professional code of conduct.
3. Working effectively as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.
4. Ensuring that accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with the Trust policy and NMC guidance, reporting on any issues as appropriate.
5. Empowering service users by ensuring that they receive relevant information about their treatment, medication, available services, advocacy services, ward routines, and safety.
6. Promoting carer and service user involvement within the service and for its provision. Encouraging recovery, discovery, and independence, taking into account risk assessment and management.
