This role is based within our Family Help and Protection social work service. They will be based within our newly established Multi Agency Child Protection Team.
The role
It’s an exciting time to be joining Children Social Care in Warrington, as we have been chosen as a Pathfinder authority for the Families First for Children reforms.
The pre-birth social worker role is a specialist role to support the work of the social care reforms. They will hold a small caseload of families with unborn babies in which there have been previous care proceedings. They will work with these families at the earliest opportunity to support them in achieving change, with the hope of keeping the baby safely in their care. Where this is not possible, they will work with the family through care proceedings.
We are looking for a committed social work practitioner who feels confident in making decisions to support, safeguard, and protect children, who has a commitment to learn, and who is passionate about supporting families and confident in court proceedings. You must have direct experience of working within the field of child protection.
What's needed?
The candidate must have experience of completing pre-birth assessments and parenting assessments. They should have experience of supporting families through care proceedings, including giving evidence in court.

The interview will involve a panel and a written exercise.
DBS clearance is required.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
