Autism Support Assistant (Full-Time, Term Time Only)
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join our primary school located in the M9 area of Manchester. This is a full-time position during term time only, offering an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with Autism.
As a Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the educational and social development of students with autism within KS1. Your role will to be to help children to thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCO, to ensure that students receive the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and group support for students with autism to help them access the curriculum.
2. Assist in implementing personalized learning plans and behavioural strategies in collaboration with teachers and SEN staff.
3. Create an inclusive environment where all children can engage positively in school life.
4. Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adapt support strategies to meet changing needs.
5. Build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them to feel safe and supported.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with children with autism, either in education or care setting.
2. A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents.
4. Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and calm when managing challenging behaviour.
5. Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or child care are desirable but not essential.
