Location: Reading with travel to sites in the Thames Valley
Salary: £50-60k (DOE), car/allowance plus excellent benefits
Our Client: Is a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out contractor, delivering vital projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water and environment.
The Role: You will have primary responsibility to ensure health and safety management systems and arrangements are at the forefront of best practice. Provide assurance that these management systems and arrangements are applied across the business consistently to effectively control the risks of activities across the company.
Responsibilities
1. Health & Safety Management Systems & Processes: Review, revise and publish health and safety management systems processes and forms to ensure compliance with health and safety policy commitments and legal obligations.
2. Consider and respond to feedback on company systems, processes, and forms.
3. Point of contact for monitoring service and resolution of any problems with external specialist system providers.
4. Lead the development of new company health and safety systems and initiatives.
5. Health & Safety Internal Compliance: Develop internal audit processes to ensure all business units meet health and safety policy commitments and legal obligations.
6. Manage the audit process, including establishing a program, undertaking audits, producing reports, and monitoring the close out of NCRs.
7. Produce monthly reports of audit performance.
8. External Compliance: Develop a regime of supplier audits for high-risk suppliers.
9. Investigate opportunities to generate income through supplier audits.
10. Produce monthly reports of supplier audit progress and performance.
Experience
1. Minimum NEBOSH Health and Safety Diploma.
2. Member of IOSH or IIRSM with up-to-date CPD.
3. IRCA accredited OH&S lead and internal auditor training.
4. Certified by the IRCA.
5. Member of IEMA (desirable).
6. Enthusiastic in promoting first-class health & safety standards.
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
8. Strong communication and influencing skills.
9. Experience in the construction sector, ideally for a main contractor.
