An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to join our Cancer Services Team as a Cancer Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator.
The role is to ensure patients are tracked throughout their cancer pathway, are treated in a timely fashion, meeting national targets and coordinate the weekly MDT meetings. Responsibility for ensuring patients move smoothly and efficiently along their cancer pathway is another key component. This involves working closely with other departments to ensure appointments and investigations are arranged in a timely fashion.
The post will involve working closely with clinicians, administrative staff, and managers to ensure that weekly meetings are held in an effective way, and making sure outcomes are recorded and acted upon. Keeping records complete and up to date at all times using a range of tools is a core task.
Enthusiasm, commitment, and flexibility are required for this role along with good customer service and excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail is absolutely essential.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a comprehensive administrative and clerical role that will ensure the smooth function of the weekly cancer multi-disciplinary team meetings and facilitate the capture and entry of relevant national data requirements.
The post holder will also be required, when necessary, to cross cover meetings within the wider cancer administration team.
Job responsibilities
Responsible for the administrative MDT management of patients on cancer pathways for specific tumour site(s). This includes preparation of MDT lists, collation of clinical information, coordination of the meeting, documentation and distribution of MDT discussions/outcomes (with support from the clinical team), relevant data collection and administrative actions from the MDT.
To proactively manage patients through cancer pathways to ensure that patients are treated in line with National Cancer Waiting Times guidance. To monitor patient pathways against national standards and agreed internal pathways (including nationally published optimal pathways) and escalate issues which prevent these being achieved. Working with Directorate Managers, admin and clinical colleagues, MDT managers and the Cancer Performance Manager to support the resolution of pathway issues.

* Educated to GCSE level or evidence of equivalent level of experience.

* Relevant IT skills with knowledge of a range of administration systems including Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
* Ability to develop good working relationships with multi professionals within and externally to the Trust.
* Ability to prioritise workload in a changing environment to meet deadlines and demonstrate effective time management skills.
* Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
* NVQ level 3.
* Understands clinical audit process.
* The requirements of this job will demand the person to interpret and use judgmental skills in extracting data from any relevant source, which is required for national and local datasets.
* They will independently make judgements to extract difficult clinical information and to resolve any data quality issues.
