Introduction:
Are you a master cabinet maker with a passion for creating luxury, custom-built furniture? We are seeking a Senior Cabinet Maker to lead our workshop in Chelmsford, specialising in high-end bespoke furniture. This is a hands-on role for someone with extensive experience in woodworking, joinery, and fine furniture craftsmanship. As the Head Cabinet Maker, you’ll manage a talented team of craftsmen, ensuring top-tier quality and precision in every piece.
Role Summary:
The Head Cabinet Maker role is pivotal to our commitment to producing top-quality bespoke furniture. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cabinetry, leading a team of skilled craftsmen, and ensuring that every piece meets exacting standards. You will bring your expertise to oversee the production process from design to completion, ensuring that consistency, quality, and client specifications are always met.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of cabinet makers, providing guidance and supervision throughout the production process.
* Interpret and execute detailed design plans, ensuring pieces meet the bespoke requirements of each client.
* Select and work with high-quality materials, maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of tools and techniques.
* Ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget, upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship.
* Conduct quality control checks and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
* Liaise with designers and clients to clarify specifications and provide progress updates.
* Manage inventory and procurement of materials to keep the workshop efficiently stocked.
Essential:
* Extensive experience in bespoke cabinetry, woodworking, or joinery.
* Proven leadership skills in managing and motivating a workshop team.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex design plans.
* Proficient in woodworking techniques, including joinery, veneering, and finishing.
* High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
* Strong organisational skills to manage projects and deadlines.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
Desirable:
* Formal qualifications in carpentry or a related field.
* Experience with CAD software for design interpretation.
* Familiarity with a variety of woodworking machines and tools.
* Previous experience in a luxury or high-end workshop environment.
* Knowledge of sustainable woodworking practices.
