You will be joining a small team of ward clerks on our Parkside Suite at Wexham Park Hospital where you will be supporting our clinical and admin teams.
You will be the main point of contact on our ward and this will consist of greeting all staff from areas within the Trust, our Consultants, Patients and relatives, and as such a high level of customer service is required.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure that all patients, visitors, and staff are treated in a courteous, professional, and caring manner and receive prompt assistance when required.
* Promote equality for all individuals by taking into consideration their cultural and religious beliefs, customs, and values. Adhere to hospital policy in relation to patient confidentiality at all times.
* Be aware of responsibilities under the 1974 Health & Safety at Work Act. Care should be taken in all aspects of work to ensure that these and other safety regulations, e.g., COSHH and Manual Handling Policy, are adhered to.
* Report all accidents and/or incidents that occur to patients, visitors, staff, or oneself according to hospital policy.
* Report any suspicious circumstances/individuals/packages immediately to the Unit Manager or her deputy.
* Be aware of procedures to be followed in the case of fire, cardiac arrest, and any other emergencies.
* Adhere to hospital policy and not become involved in any financial matters with or on behalf of a patient or relative, e.g., witnessing a will.
* Attend and participate in any meetings and training sessions as required.
* Be aware of own levels of competence and at no time attempt tasks above and beyond their ability or training.
Job responsibilities
* Answer calls in a polite manner, ensuring all relevant messages are relayed to the appropriate team.
* Greet all visitors to the ward in a helpful and polite manner.
* Direct visitors to the correct team.
* Maintain accurate admission and discharge information on EPIC.
* Work closely with the Nurse in Charge to accommodate beds for new admissions and relay information appropriately.
* Log booking forms in the nurses' diary.
* Ensure the handover sheet is up to date, liaising with nurses where appropriate.
* Ensure all patient documentation is scanned for costings.
* Report any unsafe practices promptly to Matron/Senior Nurse/Nurse in Charge.
* Any other tasks commensurate with your grade.
Person Specification
* High level of customer service experience.
Qualifications
* A good standard of education.
* Experience within an NHS admin role.
* Experience within a private patient admin role.
