We have been exclusively instructed, as a sole agency, on this unique role with our client, a well-established UK charity. The organisation is currently recruiting for an experienced Lawyer specialising in Privacy and Compliance law to join its busy office Edinburgh. This position offers a dynamic and purpose-driven environment, where the successful candidate will provide Data Protection and Privacy support across the business. Additionally, they will assist with compliance matters, ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
The Role:
1. Collaborate with the business to identify, assess, and manage Data Protection risks, escalating when necessary.
2. Oversee the reporting and management of privacy incidents.
3. Offer guidance and support to team members across all levels of the organization on Data Protection and Privacy matters.
4. Handle Subject Rights Requests, including Subject Access Requests.
5. Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments for new applications, vendors, or processes to safeguard personal data.
6. Assist in negotiating and drafting third-party contracts related to the processing of personal information.
Reporting to the Head of Legal and Licence, this role suits a qualified solicitor with relevant experience. You will primarily provide Data Protection and Privacy support while also assisting with compliance, ensuring adherence relevant policies. Experience in a regulated environment is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
The Candidate:
7. A qualified solicitor with at least 4 years’ PQE.
8. Have commercial experience, either in-house or in private practice.
9. Possess data protection expertise or a strong interest in the area.
10. Be able to work in Edinburgh (hybrid working is available).
