A well-established steelworks contractor, renowned for delivering high-quality architectural and structural steelwork, is seeking a skilled professional to oversee commercial operations and drive profitability. Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of steel structures, including balconies, balustrades, staircases, canopies, and secondary steelwork for high-rise residential and commercial contractors nationwide. With an expanding portfolio of major contract partners and a strong supply chain, this role offers the chance to shape and enhance commercial strategy within a growing company. The Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor Reporting directly to Managing Director, the successful candidate will take full responsibility for commercial activities, ensuring the financial success of projects and managing key client relationships. You will: Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors. Price tenders accurately, ensuring compliance with specifications and company profitability targets. Negotiate subcontracts and order values, collaborating closely with clients during preconstruction. Oversee monthly applications, invoices, and final account negotiations, ensuring all financial matters are accurately reported and settled. Produce detailed internal reports, tracking commercial performance and identifying areas for improvement. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Provide strategic insight into project costs and risk management, ensuring financial efficiency across all projects. The Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role, you should have: Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the architectural or structural steelwork sector. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of Estimators and an Assistant QS. Expertise in pricing tenders and ensuring compliance with specifications and profitability margins. Excellent negotiation skills with experience in subcontract and order value agreements. A track record in handling monthly applications, invoicing, and final account negotiations. A deep understanding of commercial reporting and financial management within construction. Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to drive business success. What’s on Offer?
