A global manufacturer of complex engineered products is currently looking for a Purchasing Manager for their site in Devon. This is a newly created role following a strategic acquisition and it is to play a leading role in the company’s growth and modernisation. First 12 month objectives will include working on implementing the site’s first MRP system, improve processes in the purchasing team and manage excess stock/reduce lead times. Ongoing tasks will involve: Manage the existing purchasing team including overseeing reviews, training and 121s Compare costs and evaluate the quality and suitability of suppliers, supplies, materials, and equipment Work to improve analysis of inventory held, minimise costs and make improvements wherever possible Support the sales team with accurate estimates for materials and deliveries Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers To be considered you will need to have purchasing/supply chain experience gain in a manufacturing or engineering environment. A CIPS qualification or formal Supply Chain qualification would be ideal as would experience with ERP/MRP systems. This role could be a step up for a Senior Buyer looking for progression into management or for an experienced Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager.
