General Summary:
This position reports to the Trackside Lead Systems Engineer or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK. Supporting all on car and garage electronic systems at race and test events. Responsible for the installation and lifing management of all Electronics/Systems components. Play an active role in fault investigations and resolutions. Involved in the set-up and pack-up of all equipment before and after an event. Factory tasks will include the preparation of electronic parts for the next event as well as the service, maintenance and fault management of sensors, harnesses and garage electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
2. Responsible for the electrical build and disassembly of the chassis prior and post event, including the fitment of all electrical hardware.
3. The manufacture of small to medium harnesses, sensor termination and test box and leads.
4. Work closely with your car crew pre, during and post event to ensure electronic parts are delivered and installed correctly.
5. Ensure the standard daily systems technician tasks and additional assigned activities are completed thoroughly.
6. Play an active role in electronic fault investigations, permanent rectifications and temporary solutions maintaining reliability.
7. Attend pre and post event meetings to provide feedback for improvements.
8. Using the component Lifing System to manage all electrical parts.
9. Procurement of electrical parts and maintaining current stock of on car parts.
10. Help to promote a good safe working environment.
11. Follow and enforce health & safety regulations at all venues.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Trackside Systems Lead Engineer or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:
GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including Electrical training to HNC level. Knowledge of Raychem systems 25 and previous experience working in high level motorsport environment are essential. Ideally would hold a 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certificate but not essential.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Strong technical background in racing car electrical and electronic systems. Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations. Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way. Work well in a team environment with personnel at all levels.
Equipment and Applications:
Use of electrical test meters and hand tools. Soldering equipment use. Harness retention tooling. Factory Cirris testing equipment. Computer literate.
Work Environment Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require extensive domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity.
