A publicly traded Fintech customer is seeking a General Manager UK, who will be responsible for the company P&L, overseeing the sales and operations. The GM will lead the strategic direction, manage key partnerships, and drive revenue growth while ensuring operational excellence. Additionally, the GM will be responsible for managing the UK office with a team of approximately 40 employees. Compliance with UK regulatory standards, including FCA requirements, financial governance, and data protection laws, will be a core part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive the UK market strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s global vision and objectives while maintaining compliance with FCA and other regulatory requirements.
* Implement strategic sales initiatives and partnerships, analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
* Lead, mentor, and support a top-tier UK team of 40 employees, fostering a positive work environment that motivates employees to achieve their best.
* Monitor sales performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to meet objectives.
* Stay ahead of industry trends, UK financial regulations, and fintech innovations, ensuring all operations align with the legal and compliance requirements.
* Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring operational efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with legal guidelines, corporate governance standards, and industry regulations.
* Manage P&L, budgeting, and financial forecasting for the UK market while ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) laws, KYC processes, and FCA financial regulations.
* Ensure all operations adhere to local and international regulatory standards, including GDPR, Consumer Duty, and Senior Manager Conduct Rules. Implement internal controls and risk assessment frameworks to safeguard compliance.
Requirements:
* 10+ years of experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a General Manager / Managing Director managing P&L, budgeting, and financial performance.
* Strategic thinking with a results-oriented mindset.
* Proven track record of driving sales, business expansion, and market penetration in the fintech or retail sectors.
* Experience working in a multinational company, collaborating across regions and cultures while adhering to international compliance standards.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise with regulatory bodies.
* Familiarity with UK financial regulations, FCA compliance requirements, and corporate governance best practices for payments businesses.
