Role: Senior SHEQ Advisor
Location: London / South East
Role Purpose
The Senior SHEQ Advisor provides expert support and guidance on health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental management. They ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, they mentor and guide SHEQ Advisors.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the continuous improvement of the SHEQ management system and develop key performance indicators with the Business Unit SHEQ Manager.
* Provide operational teams with guidance, training, and briefings to ensure compliance with statutory duties and company procedures.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and investigations, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
* Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
* Deliver learning bulletins, toolbox talks, and monthly safety, health, wellbeing, environmental, and quality briefings.
* Review and recommend mitigation strategies for risk assessments, safe systems of work, and health & safety plans.
* Identify training needs and liaise with the Training Manager to address gaps.
* Conduct internal and external audits, including supply chain partner assessments and performance reviews.
* Lead employee committees on Safety, Health & Wellbeing, and Environmental Sustainability.
* Participate in stand–down events and conduct random drug & alcohol testing (training provided).
* Engage with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive, clients, and stakeholders.
* Stay updated on relevant legislation and industry developments.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor in utilities or construction.
* Knowledge of relevant SHEQ regulations, standards, and best practices.
* NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety .
* Full UK Driving License.
* IOSH membership (TechIOSH).
Desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma or Equivilient.
* Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management).
* IOSH membership (CertIOSH).
