Working Full Time: 37.5 Hours Per Week An opportunity for you to engage in the provision of technical audiological services with limited supervision. The post holder will perform a broad range of work activities, which are primarily routine or predictable, involving hearing assessments and hearing rehabilitation. The job is to include predominantly the care of adult patients with hearing loss and some older paediatric (> 5 years of age) patients. This requires formulating individualised care plans for adults diagnosed with a hearing loss, working within in/out patients, acute and community Audiology, and with housebound patients during domiciliary visits. To verify hearing aid fitting using highly skilled real ear measurements. This involves the insertion of probe tubes deep into the patient's ear canal to within 3mm of the eardrum. This will require effective communication with and the co-operation of the patient and fine dexterity skills. Instruct and guide the patient in operation and maintenance of the hearing aid, adapting the instructions and approach to accommodate the patients' communication and physical difficulties. Provide patient specific counselling with regard to management of their hearing loss. Fine dexterity - evaluate the fit of earmoulds and modify as necessary using a hand precision lathe and/or drill. Decontaminate earmoulds in accordance with departmental infection control policies. To perform hearing aid repair and maintenance when required.
