About the role:
The role will predominantly support the JCB Earthmovers assembly operations, although there will be an expectation to lead on cross-functional projects as required.
What does this role involve day to day?
1. Generating and implementing proposals to improve productivity and reduce labour cost per unit.
2. Deploying new methods of working, such as automation or digital tooling to make our processes more efficient, or to improve quality for the customer.
3. Ensure safety critical processes are compliant. Also, Standard Operating Procedures are in place for all assembly processes.
4. Submission of capital expenditure projects to support new model introduction or meet future capacity requirements.
5. Lead projects that require new equipment installations, or changes to production processes to support growth.
6. Create and deploy shopfloor layout plans on AutoCad / NX.
7. Be responsible for the purchasing and maintenance of new tooling and equipment.
8. Manage departmental cost control and budgets.
9. Support new model introduction programs, with submission of gate documentation and coordination of first off builds.
10. Manage introduction and fit and function of new components into production.
11. Carry out manning and capacity calculations for the shop. Support line balancing activities including rating.
12. Manage maintenance and calibration of key equipment including contractor control.
13. Creation and review of PFMEA.
This will be suited to you if:
1. You’re a competent user of Excel.
2. You’re resilient.
3. You have AutoCad / NX experience.
4. You have SAP experience.
5. You have good presentation skills.
6. Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes.
7. You demonstrate experience of managing a team or a project team.
8. You have a sense of urgency and commitment when working to project deadlines.
9. You’re tenacious in solving problems to eliminate root cause.
10. You understand that effective communication is the quickest way to resolve issues and create a positive outcome.
11. You have a Manufacturing Engineering Degree or relevant experience. Minimum HNC / HND.
