Job summary
We requirea Principal Applied Psychologist to guide and supervise trainee psychiatristsduring the short case psychotherapeutic interventions. This is often based on one-to-oneCBT (12-20 sessions).
Due to the small cohort of trainee psychiatrists we accommodate inour Trust the successful candidate will work hours perweek.
Excellent competence of the CBT model is essential. Experience ofworking clinically across more than one specialty will be a distinctiveadvantage but not indispensable.
We predictthat remote working will be frequent although occasional working across multiple sites might be required attimes.

Main duties of the job
1. To supervise approximately6-8 trainees each year, for up to 20 sessions each. This supervision will notbe carried out at the same time but will be spread across the year.
2. Guide trainee psychiatrists in their developmentof the competences within psychotherapeutic interventions ( provide guidedreading for trainee psychiatrists).
3. To guide Trainee Psychiatrists and ensureappropriate clinical governance is followed. This will include maintenance ofsupervision notes, supervisory contract, etc.
4. To create a deliver a short training course inCBT that will be delivered when deemed necessary.
5. To meet regularly with the Medical Psychotherapy Tutor and theTrust Lead for Psychological Interventions
6. To identify and reports appropriately clinicalgovernance challenges this new role might imply.

Qualifications
Essential
13. BSc/BA Honors degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology
14. Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
15. Post qualification training/ experience in specific, evidence based techniques for use with clients with complex psychological presentations and/ or physical health difficulties, across the age span
16. Evidence of regular further professional training and experience as required by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the BPS
17. Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS
18. Eligible for registration as a Practitioner member of the BPS Division of Clinical/Counselling Psychology
19. Registered with HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
20. I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Experience

21. Experience required specific to the role and clinical area
22. A minimum of 4 years of experience working as a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist within the relevant area
23. Experience of leading in relation to the development and organisation of psychological interventions within a given clinical area
24. Sufficient training and experience to be recognised by the Division of Clinical/Counselling Psychology as a suitably qualified psychologist to offer clinical placements to trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologists
25. Training and experience in the application of psychological knowledge across range of mental health presentations, including organic illness, functional mental health, and physical health
26. Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to patients presenting with the full degree of clinical severity and across a range of clinical mental health presentations across the life span and care settings
27. Experience of multi-agency/ multidisciplinary working
28. Therapeutic expertise in working with carers/families/couples
29. Experience of conducting clinically relevant research
