We serve 3.5 million homes and businesses across Central & Southern Scotland, Cheshire, Merseyside, North Shropshire and North Wales. We work round the clock to make sure you have power. This team is responsible for delivering the safe provision of one of the following specific activities with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and license obligations for the electricity distribution network; Operations & Maintenance. What you’ll be doing Support the integrity of the distribution and protection system Undertake and develop appropriate skills associated with work on substations, cables and overhead lines that make up the distribution network. Delivery of planned maintenance, connections, investment and fault repair works as appropriately authorised. Responding to and restoring electrical supplies affected by network faults. Minimise CML and Average Time to First Restoration (ATR)by direct application of skills ensuring timely restoration of supplies. In liaison with system control and dispatch provide independent front-line technical support to promptly resolve faults identified on the distribution network and protection systems. Accurately collate all relevant information regarding repair or follow up work and pass to interested parties for continuation. Assist, when requested, operational engineers with protection commissioning & implementation, reactive & post fault switching and maintenance. Independently undertake plant and protection maintenance to agreed schedules and timescales. Supervision of contractors. Undertake programmed, post fault and fault switching on the distribution networks. To include the operation of underground and overhead networks and the issue and receipt of appropriate safety documents. Undertake/ assist in the installation, commissioning and fault rectification of battery systems. Ensure all site works carried out safely, including acting as the nominated person in charge of safety for the duration of all works attended whilst ensuring all network operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company policy and safety rules. Produce Power On schedules as and when job dictates. Ensure all returns associated with Data Capture process requirements are complied with. Perform stand-by duties as agreed with the company to allow for the restoration of customer supplies and network discrepancies impacting network security What you’ll bring Manage the development of assigned trainees including apprentices, skills seekers, adult craft trainees etc. Carry out site and operational risk assessments on your team and associated contractors. Awareness of and compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and update them on particular issues as they arise working with your team towards a zero accident culture. Capture feedback and issues from Operational Safety and Compliance Audits, Quality Audits etc and address any non-conformances. Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of your operation. Actively promote and strive to deliver customer service standards within area of responsibility Take responsibility and accountability for tasks and activities and contributes to the achievement of team goals by providing support, advice, encouragement, clear direction and coaching when appropriate. Knowledge of distribution protection systems and control & restoration processes and procedures. Authorised to switch on the electrical network If authorised and trained, can undertake ‘live working’ in accordance with the Scottish Power live working manual. Sound knowledge of the Scottish Power health and safety processes and procedures. Sound working knowledge of the Electrical network, protection & battery systems, inter-trip systems and ancillary equipment.
