The post holder will work alongside another band 7 and a band 8 to lead the team and develop the service on a dedicated 30 bedded complex rehabilitation unit. The unit takes patients requiring complex rehabilitation from the LGI and SJUH and from the wider region. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate significant post graduate experience and clinical knowledge of the assessment, management and discharge of Neurological impaired patients and other patients requiring complex rehabilitation. They will be required to demonstrate an ability to work both as an autonomous practitioner, and also as part of the multidisciplinary team. They will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a large multidisciplinary team as well as leading the physiotherapy management and treatment of patients on the unit. Main duties of the job The team treat and manage a wide variety of neurological conditions including major trauma, traumatic brain injury. All therapists work closely with other disciplines as part of a large MDT. The post holder will provide up to date and evidence-based physiotherapy treatment and management of the patients on the unit. They will lead on the most complex patients and support other staff to develop their skills with this patient group. The candidate will be involved in complex discharge planning and referrals to multiple agencies within the local area and further afield. We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate strong leadership skills, working with empathy and understanding of the complexities and challenges of the NHS and the ability to lead both inside and outside of your professional group.
