This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Acute Physicians at Glangwili General Hospital.
The post holder will be expected to help develop and deliver all aspects of the Acute Medicine service through the Emergency Department, CDU and SDEC.
There are currently 4.3 WTE Acute Medicine Consultants in the Hospital and the incumbent will be required to support the expansion of this service in hospital and in the community working closely with other colleagues.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide acute assessment and treatment of medical patients presenting to GGH front door (Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit and Same Day Emergency Care).
2. Providing effective leadership to multidisciplinary staff members in the CDU, SDEC and ED.
3. Ensuring close working with GP and medical colleagues.
4. Providing timely assessment and treatment of patients presenting to GGH with medical conditions.
5. Ensure close working between A+E, SDEC and CDU.
6. Provide clinical supervision of the SDEC and Emergency Department medical patients.
7. Ensure close cooperation with other medical consultant colleagues to develop seamless pathways of care for patients.
8. Work with the team to the development of hot clinics as an alternative to admission.
9. Ensure close liaison with GP colleagues to direct patients to the most suitable service.
10. Ensure development, support and training for nurse consultant and nurse practitioner colleagues.
11. Provide the necessary training and support of junior doctors.

Essential
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice or equivalent qualification.
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date.
* Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration.
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills.
Desirable
* Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent.

* Broad based experience in eg. Acute/ General Medicine.
