Job Summary
The Design Project Manager is responsible and accountable for overseeing and coordinating designs for the UK Engineering projects from inception to completion. Ensure the delivery, scoping, and implementation of the design required to enable CapEX projects, across the UK Operations Data Centre portfolio.
This role involves collaborating between UK Engineering cross-functional teams, including UK Operations; Capacity Management; Corporate Finance and other identified stakeholders. The Design Project Manager will manage stakeholder relationships, facilitate communication, and ensure that projects adhere to established design processes and methodologies.
Responsibilities
Project/Program Management
* Scopes, delivers, supports and identifies design projects in cooperation with Data Centre Operations and the senior management stakeholders.
* Responsible for running design projects and programs in UK Operations Engineering in close cooperation with Data Centre operations.
* Will be responsible for ensuring project governance/standards are in place, upheld and followed.
Project/Program Delivery
* Responsible for successfully completing their projects on time, within budget, quality and scope.
Planning
* Accountable for the planning and reporting of all design delivery within the UK Engineering portfolio.
Technical & System Support
* Experience in delivering data centre infrastructure design, such as HVAC, UPS, switch gear, power generation systems, cable management, BMS/EMS and SCADA.
* Extensive Project/Programme management background in a data centre / critical environment
* Knowledge of installing, maintaining, and modifying M&E systems within live Data Centre environments.
* Ensures that none of the projects will have a negative effect on Data Centre availability.
Stakeholder Management
* Identifies and anticipates project engagement needs on behalf of the team's projects to advise team members when required.
* Encourages feedback from the team or individuals.
* Is an escalation point to resolve stakeholder issues within the team.
Communications
* Upholds the program's communication requirements and seeks to continually improve the team's communications standards.
* Thinks broadly and focuses on consistent communications as and when required.
* Reports on risk and issue management and the appropriate levels of control.
* Drives and supports the team on the resolution of escalated issues.
* Will provide management updates on a variety of resource management KPI's.
* Is an escalation point for the team for solving resource/budgetary issues.
* Contributes to and/or is responsible for resource planning (people, finances etc.) activities.
Engineering and Technology
* Experience with data centres, infrastructure facilities, building management systems.
* Knowledge of global compliance and certifications that may apply.
* Work cross-functionally with the PMO organization and the UK OPS representatives in the company.

* Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective Data Centre operations for the protection of people, data, property, and sites.
* Contributes to inspections, internal and external audits.
* Expert negotiating and contract knowledge, relationship building with service and material suppliers to ensure that projects are carried out against the set scope and goals.
Construction
* Strong cross-functional knowledge base of Data Centre build design and principles to provide detailed input to internal/external construction teams.
