Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based at two beautiful locations on the Suffolk coast: The Red House, Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings.
The Red House was the home of composer Benjamin Britten and his partner, the singer Peter Pears. This historic house is surrounded by five acres of garden and includes purpose-built Archive and exhibition buildings. Open to the public, it offers a fascinating view of domestic life in the mid-twentieth century.
Once again we are looking forward to welcoming visitors, families, and holiday makers to The Red House this year. The Red House will re-open on the 3 April, and this role has been created to work with the permanent team as well as alongside the visitor experience team who welcome our visitors, provide information, and support our team of volunteers.
This is a wide-ranging role offering plenty of opportunities to learn more about administration and about working in a museum and heritage setting, gaining new skills and experience. You would be part of a small, supportive, and highly committed team who will be happy to share their knowledge and experience with you.
We are looking for:
* Previous customer service and admin experience in a paid or voluntary role.
* An interest in the arts/heritage.
* Someone who is ready to step into a supervisory role.
* Someone who enjoys working with others and is happy to be part of the team.
* Someone who is comfortable being part of our Emergency First Aid team at The Red House (qualifying course to be undertaken).
* Clear and articulate verbal and written communication.
* Commonsense – the ability to use initiative appropriately and to resolve problems.
* Confident IT skills – we use Microsoft (Word, Excel, TEAMS, Sharepoint) as well as a booking system - Spektrix.
* A commitment to be in the role until 2 November 2025.
Full time (35 hours per week) Wednesday – Sunday.
Term: w/c 24 March – 2 November 2025.
We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us. Closing date: 0930hrs Tuesday 18 February 2025.
Interviews to take place w/c 24 February.
