The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust’s Pathology Centre is looking for a dynamic, caring and enthusiastic leader to join our Cellular Pathology Team.
The successful applicant will be working closely with other members of the Pathology leadership team, across our two hospital sites, to deliver a quality, patient-focused service. CellPath is a vibrant team, continually looking for ways to develop innovative ideas and ways of working, ensuring our services continue to match the rapid pace of growth in diagnostic advances.
The applicant will be a Registered Scientist with the HCPC, with highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience.
If you are looking for new opportunities and challenges in a management role then this post could be for you. You will need to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of Cellular Pathology; effective leadership skills with experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams; effective communication; be able to interpret and present performance and business data; advise senior managers of risks and issues; and solve operational and day-to-day management issues using previous experience and own initiative. You will need to have a strong collaborative approach and the ability to engage service users, partners, commissioners and other key stakeholders.
The post holder may participate in the Trust’s On Call Manager rota.
Main duties of the job
* Provide and receive complex information; persuasive and motivational skills required; tact and persuasive skills required; barriers to understanding; provide and receive highly complex information.
* Communicate staff-related issues, test results and/or other technical information to colleagues, patients, relatives, and carers who may have sensory physical or learning disabilities; communicate specialist scientific information to healthcare staff.
* Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
* Understanding of specialist healthcare science activities; management knowledge acquired through training to master’s degree or equivalent level of knowledge.
* Analyze complex facts or situations requiring interpretation and comparison of options.
* Provide advice and recommendations on specialist equipment, procedures, techniques, services, or expert opinion.
* Plan complex activities, requiring formulation and development of strategies.
* Plan workload for area of work, including adjustments to deal with emergencies and on-call arrangements; long-term planning for own department.
