What you’ll be doing : As a Power System Design Lead, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative electrical systems for advanced applications.
Your key responsibilities will include: • Designing AC and DC power generation and distribution systems, including protection, control, and converter specifications.
• Developing solutions for motor drives, control systems, and positioning systems.
• Managing EMC design and verification processes, including compliance testing.
• Specifying bespoke hardware and overseeing sub-contractor development programmes.
• Verifying designs through a combination of simulation, analysis, and testing, including support for external EMC test facilities.
• Producing design documentation and technical reports.
• Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure system integration.
• Following engineering lifecycle processes and contributing to design and peer reviews.
What we’re looking for : We are looking for individuals with a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, and experience in some or all of the following areas: • Designing electrical power systems, including AC to DC conversion, regulation, and conditioning, as well as switch-mode and linear power supplies.
• Knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards and, ideally, experience with EMC standards such as DEF STAN 59-411.
• Familiarity with tools such as Matlab/Simulink and, ideally, an awareness of SysML.
• Demonstrated experience in design validation, integration, and fault resolution.
