Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic individual with a genuine interest in stoma care who is ready to develop their skills and knowledge to become a stoma care nurse specialist. You would be joining our friendly and innovative team covering both Royal Stoke and County hospital. The individual will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work well within a small team and autonomously. The successful candidate will have recent clinical experience of caring for patients with a stoma and worked on a colorectal ward. The successful candidate should demonstrate relevant knowledge of conditions which may result in stoma formation and embody the Trust values and beliefs. Main duties of the job The role will involve working in partnership with patients, families and the Multidisciplinary Teams in the hospital and wider community, providing high quality, compassionate and expert stoma nursing care. You will be part of the team providing siting, post-operative teaching, discharge planning and preparation, outpatient nurse-led clinics and implementing continued care from hospital to home. You will be supported to develop your skills through mentorship, training, competency based assessment and educational opportunities including attending relevant study days. You will be expected to contribute to departmental research, quality improvement projects, and be involved in teaching stoma care to other health care professionals.
