Trainee Service Technician (Commercial Vehicles)

Mon-Fri – Permanent / 40hr week (Overtime available)
Salary £25,000-£28,000 NEG/DOE + End of year company bonus.
We are pleased to be looking after this fantastic opportunity for our long standing and highly regarded client who are seeking a Trainee Service Technician to join their Commercial Vehicle team on a full-time permanent basis. This busy department specialises in the diagnosis, repair, maintenance and service of commercial vehicles with a focus on automatic transmissions and drivelines.
Our client is able to offer you the ongoing training and support needed to enable you to further develop and build upon skills in commercial and public service vehicle servicing and repair. You will work alongside experienced technicians gaining support and further knowledge to assist you in your role. As your skills, confidence and knowledge develop you will be provided with a company vehicle to use when attending offsite call outs. You will also be provided with a laptop, mobile and the latest diagnostic software.

Outline of the role
* Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles and automatic transmissions.
* Support and assist the team on all aspects of diagnostic and repair work as required.
* Attend offsite breakdowns covering clients based East and South of the country with other team members.
* Undertake fault finding, diagnosis, cleaning and dismantling of gear boxes and engines.
Experience and skills required
* Mechanical or Electromechanical background, knowledge and understanding – preferred
* Supporting mechanical engineering qualification – beneficial
* Working knowledge of Allison and ZF transmissions – advantageous
* Knowledge and general interest in mechanics/diesel engines/gearboxes
* Keen attitude and desire to learn and develop skills
* Flexible and adaptable approach to workload
* Organised, self-motivated and a team player.
* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
* IT proficient

This role is being offered on a permanent basis. You will be based at the company’s fully equipped workshop when not attending customer call outs.
