P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients who are currently recruiting an Onsite Engineering Estimator to join their team based in the Northwest on a full time, permanent basis.
This role includes travel to multiple sites.
Role Summary:
The Onsite Engineering Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates for projects by assessing client’s tender enquiries, gathering information and analysing important metrics to provide bid packages that support profitable business decisions.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Management of enquiries and ITTs from start to end, within agreed deadlines.
2. Review and assess all tender information received and raise RFI where required.
3. Site visits to plan for access / logistics for building accurate estimate.
4. Submit allocated documentation for ITT return.
5. Liaise with operations teams to understand outputs / delivery methods.
6. Compile detailed estimates from first principles where required and in accordance with standard company rates.
7. Estimate site welfare and prelims and time related items.
8. Engage with specialist sub-contractors / suppliers.
9. Ensure multiple materials / equipment / sub-contractor quotes received.
10. Liaising with Bid department for pulling submission together.
11. Manage all Tender Queries / Clarifications.
12. Attend all pre-contract meetings with sales and bid team.
13. Attend Decide to Bid meetings with department heads and BDMs as necessary.
14. Undertake detailed commercial review and adjudication, with senior management, prior to submission.
15. Be accountable for all onsite engineering estimates.
16. Organise (and attend, if appropriate) client post-tender meetings.
17. Perform commercial risk analysis and estimate accordingly.
18. Chair internal handover meeting with delivery team.
19. Estimation of project variations and PMIs.
20. Mentoring & training of junior members of staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
21. CSCS & PTS (AC & DC).
22. Driving Licence.
23. Experience in fabrication/welding and onsite steelwork & civils installation.
24. Knowledge of the whole tendering & procurement process.
25. 5 years’ experience of onsite engineering projects.
26. Rail and Highway experience.
27. Building and maintaining good working relationships.
28. Sales, bid and proposals experience.
29. PQQ/EOI and ITT experience.
30. Commercial and contractual awareness (NEC3).
31. Design and technical knowledge, reading & understanding of technical drawings and specifications.
32. Programming and planning.
33. Temporary works design and install experience.
34. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
35. A team player who also works well independently.
36. Client focussed.
37. Innovation and current market awareness.
38. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project.
39. Approachable and open minded.
40. HNC or Degree educated or equivalent within Engineering or Business Management with significant experience in either an Engineering, Technical, Construction, Commercial or Project environment. (Desirable)
41. NVQ Level 5 Fabrication & Welding. (Desirable)
42. Proven experience in the preparation of cost estimates from first principles. (Desirable)
43. Risk awareness and estimating accordingly. (Desirable)
44. Undertaken role of estimating and bid lead on multi-disciplinary tenders. (Desirable)
45. Working within frameworks. (Desirable)
46. Business development managing and techniques. (Desirable)
