As a Db2 for z/OS Database and Systems Administrator, you’ll become part of the Infrastructure Support team that manage the IBM Z mainframe platform supporting Nationwide’s SAP Core Banking applications. You’ll take a leading role in ensuring that our Db2 for z/OS platform meets the challenges of the digital world and the service delivery expectations to support our members. You’ll ensure that our Db2 for z/OS databases and systems are always stable, available, secure, up to date, and running as effectively and efficiently as possible. You will be part of the team providing 24/7 support for the Db2 components of our Production SAP Core Banking application platform. You will also be responsible for implementing a regular service strategy to ensure our Db2 software and related tooling are maintained at an appropriate level throughout our landscape, and for installing, testing and rolling out new Versions of Db2 and related software. You will also maintain our Production Support environments, including System Restore and Cloning. You will be expected to carry out system and application performance analysis and reporting. The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues will be vital, and you will be expected to provide in-depth technical advice to other areas of the business. What you’ll be doing You’ll provide third line technical support for the Db2 components of our SAP Core Banking platform. Your broad expertise and aptitude to quickly assimilate and understand complexity under pressure will allow you to diagnose and remediate technical issues. As a true team player, you’ll work with the broader Infrastructure teams and SAP Application Support teams to proactively manage the Db2 for z/OS environment and optimise the SAP applications. You’ll participate in the installation, maintenance and upgrade of Db2 software and related tooling. You’ll be curious and ready to explore new options, enhancements, or even new technologies. You’ll be generous with your knowledge and expertise, and will actively contribute to the cross-training of the mainframe database team at Nationwide. After a qualifying period, you will be expected to take part in an on-call support rota. About you Proven track record of configuring, maintaining and supporting Db2 for z/OS Data Sharing environments with very large databases Strong knowledge of SQL General z/OS skills including JCL, TSO/ISPF, REXX, SMP/E Considerable experience of Db2 system and application performance monitoring, tuning, reporting and troubleshooting Experience with several of the following would be highly beneficial: Supporting SAP applications IBM Db2 Utilities including Backup and Restore System IBM software such as Administration Tool, Automation Tool, Log Analyzer, Cloning Tool and OMEGAMON Performance Expert IBM Change Data Capture (CDC) Desire and aptitude to continually grow your own knowledge and skills, and help others do the same Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a clear and meaningful way to wide and varied audiences Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together.
