Role Purpose: The back shift supervisor will oversee the daily operations and provide support in the day transport operations and execution of the back shift, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and smooth execution of transport activities within a pallet network. This role requires strong IT experience, Vigo TMS management systems knowledge, and a deep understanding of tachograph (tacho) regulations, the Working Time Directive (WTD), and legal driver hours. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. This role will need to forge strong working relationships with our Customer Service Supervisor, the Day Shift Operations supervisor, and our Groupage manager, which will ensure our key pillars of success. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the back-shift transport and planning operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods within the pallet network and dedicated deliveries. Using our ELogii transport planning management systems (TMS) to optimise route planning, scheduling, and reporting planning (from 20:00 to 22:00, day one to day two) Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations, including tachograph laws, Working Time Directive (WTD), and driver legal hours. Monitor KPIs and performance metrics, ensuring service levels are met and exceeded. Maintain strong communication with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure a high standard of service. Working with the compliance manager to adhere to vehicle maintenance schedules and fleet management vs the plan. Support the management of all health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees – we all own H&S Support daily IT systems requirements, ensuring seamless integration with logistics operations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence across the department. Key Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a shift manager or in a similar palletised network, planning and transport industry role. Strong IT experience, particularly with Vigo transport management systems. Extensive knowledge of pallet network operations. Deep understanding of tachograph laws, Working Time Directive (WTD), and driver legal hours. Extensive knowledge of legal compliance legislation Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced office environment. Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a transport setting. Financial awareness and ability to manage budgets and cost control. Desirable Qualifications: CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification in Transport Management. Experience in using data analytics for operational efficiency improvements. Working Conditions: Office-based role with occasional travel required. May involve irregular hours to meet operational demands. Hours are 13:00 to 22:00, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, so a 45-hour week, Monday to Friday.
