Position: HSE Manager
Location: Scotland (Site-Based) - Glasgow
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract
Reports To: Project Director/Construction Manager
Rate: £500-£600 per day PAYE
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance on a high-profile new build industrial construction project in Scotland. The successful candidate will ensure that the project operates within the highest safety and environmental standards while promoting a positive safety culture across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HSE Leadership:
o Provide strategic direction and leadership on all HSE matters for the project.
o Act as the primary point of contact for all HSE-related issues, both internally and externally.
2. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015.
o Prepare, review, and update HSE policies, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
3. HSE Systems and Reporting:
o Develop and implement robust HSE management systems tailored to the project.
o Conduct regular audits, inspections, and reviews of site operations to ensure adherence to HSE standards.
o Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records, and reports.
4. Incident Management:
o Investigate incidents, near-misses, and hazards, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
o Deliver timely incident reports and communicate lessons learned to the project team.
5. Training and Awareness:
o Conduct HSE inductions and ongoing training for all site personnel, including contractors and visitors.
o Promote awareness of safety, health, and environmental best practices.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment on HSE goals.
o Represent the project during external audits, inspections, and meetings.
7. Environmental Management:
o Develop and monitor environmental protection plans to minimise the project's environmental impact.
o Ensure compliance with waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability practices.
8. Safety Culture Development:
o Drive a proactive safety culture by promoting behavioural safety initiatives and recognising exemplary HSE performance.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (essential).
* Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards it (preferred).
* Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA) is advantageous.
Experience:
* Proven track record as an HSE Manager on large-scale industrial construction projects.
* Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and other relevant UK legislation.
* Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, and multiple stakeholders.
