About the role: As the Technical Author, you will play a key role in creating, refining, and simplifying Business Operating Procedures for a dynamic and high-profile client within the energy sector. You will work collaboratively with procedure owners, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation is accurate, user-friendly, and aligned with governance standards. A core aspect of the role involves simplifying and amalgamating existing procedures while ensuring their content is clear and accessible to all users. This position demands a proactive approach to technical writing, working across disciplines to engage with users and procedure owners, ultimately delivering high-quality, impactful documentation that supports safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. As a Technical Author, you will: Simplifying and amalgamating existing Business Operating Procedures. Formatting content to align with templates and technical content standards. Assisting owners with the preparation of rollout materials, including emails, PowerPoint presentations, and SMART media. Developing new operating procedures, adhering to Governance Standards, Document Templates, and incorporating Job Aids, Checklists, and Definitions/Abbreviations. Conducting quality checks on documents produced by other authors. Supporting the application of HSE Revitalising Procedures and promoting the use of Plain English in all communications. Requirements Experience producing operating procedures for a major Oil & Gas Operator. Proven ability to simplify complex technical content and produce pragmatic, user-focused documentation. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint. A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines and engage with procedure users effectively. Familiarity with HSE Revitalising Procedures and a commitment to applying Plain English principles. Exceptional written and spoken English, with attention to detail and accuracy in technical writing. Self-motivated, proactive, and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. A flexible and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
