Your new role
Hays Logistics are excited to be recruiting a new and additional position as a Transport Planner to join a dynamic team and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the transport services. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing customer orders, coordinating with suppliers, and optimising the utilisation of our tanks and drivers. Your efforts will directly contribute to maintaining high service levels and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process customer orders and maintain timely communication with customers.
2. Coordinate closely with suppliers to book appropriate transportation for order execution.
3. Ensure timely turnaround of tanks to maximise utilisation.
4. Track and plan UK tank drivers to optimise their earnings potential.
5. Maintain high service levels for customers.
6. Utilise equipment efficiently.
7. Track and plan equipment according to specific product, customer, and operational requirements.
8. Contribute to the CPA and P&L for tanks.
9. Ensure seamless implementation of new business.
10. Recharge any additional costs.
11. Arrange appropriate tank cleaning, repairs, and services.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Prior experience of transport, tank or tanker planning.
2. Experience in a customer-facing role.
3. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
4. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data entry, documentation, and record keeping.
5. Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members, drivers, and stakeholders.
6. Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and make informed decisions under pressure.
7. Proficiency in using transportation management systems, database software, and Microsoft Office suite to support administrative tasks and data analysis.
8. Willingness to adapt to changing priorities, work schedules, and support the team during peak periods or unforeseen circumstances.
9. The ability to understand and empathise with the needs and concerns of team members, drivers, and stakeholders, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
10. Financial acumen.
11. The ability to switch between customer service and operational tasks.
