Principle Speech and Language Therapist; Clinical & Operational Lead

The successful candidate will join the well-established and respected Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, working specifically within the inpatient AMH service across the Sherwood Oaks and Highbury hospital sites.
The role will provide clinical and operational leadership to a small team of SLTs offering Communication and Dysphagia pathways in the 2 inpatient hospitals.

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide clinical and operational leadership to a small SLT team, supporting them to deliver timely, safe, quality care to a complex mental health population residing in inpatient wards. This role will ensure the team is supported and well-led whilst their current clinical lead is on maternity leave.
Job Responsibilities
* To deliver professional supervision, reflective practice, and guidance to the inpatient AMH workforce (both the SLT staff and wider workforce).
* To provide second opinions and complex case consultations to referrals on the communication pathway (as required and appropriate).
* To represent the profession and forums as required and appropriate - including risk and quality meetings, etc.
* To provide clinical and operational leadership to the SLT workforce.
* To liaise with the AHP lead - informing workforce planning, executive team feedback, business plans, etc.
* To monitor the SLT team's performance in terms of compliance with Trust standards, contact figures, quality care, complaint and complement monitoring, etc.
Person Specification
Qualifications - Academic/ Craft/ Professional
* Recognised HCPC Degree/Diploma
* HCPC Registered
* RCSLT Registered
* Recognised ACP Masters (or equivalence) qualification
Physical Requirements
* Excellent speech and hearing
* Physical skills in line with role
Training
* Portfolio of relevant post-qualification CPD including highly specialist clinical knowledge
* Evidence of management/leadership training and development
Experience
* Experience and expertise in assessing and managing complex caseloads
* Experience of leading service development and developing pathways
* Experience of effective multidisciplinary/agency working and established interpersonal and negotiation skills
* Experience in using research evaluation/audit tools and demonstrating need.
* Experience of managing and clinically supervising others
* Experience of performance management
* Experience of supporting preceptes and NQP
* Experience of supporting SLT apprentices
Knowledge
* Knowledge of National Policy and guidance relating to the population.
* Applied leadership knowledge.
* Highly specialist knowledge of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) of individuals with mental health diagnoses
* Knowledge of Speech Language Communication tools, assessments, and interventions relating to the client group
* Knowledge of the link between unmet communication needs, mental health, and risk

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 a year pro rata
