The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Supervisor / Foreman is to develop and manage a team of production employees in the area(s) assigned, and lead them in executing the production plan while consistently meeting company standards of performance: cost effective production of high quality parts on time; in a clean, safe environment. He / She will coordinate with all the appropriate internal resources, whether they report directly or not, to ensure that machinery in the department is maintained effectively, and the processes are documented effectively to allow production employees and the department to achieve their goals. The Supervisor / Foreman will take direct responsibility for all key elements of success for the department, including but not limited to, ensuring that employees have the necessary knowledge, tools, and environment to maximize both personal and company success.
The role of a Supervisor and/or a Foreman is substantially the same for the majority of the job. The primary difference is that a Foreman usually performs work in the department contributing to production output, whereas a Supervisor creates the department’s documentation including training, implements significant continuous improvement projects, and develops budgets / departmental plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Associate’s Degree in Business or Technical Field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent direct work experience demonstrating competence in Supervisory level work or the demonstrated potential to do supervisory level work (internal promotions).
2. Demonstrated willingness and ability to master and perform the work of the department he / she will supervise.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Leadership, decisiveness, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple functions to meet required deadlines.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills including interviewing, coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills.
6. Strong computer / IT skills to effectively manage in a production environment of MRP, JIT, Performance Metric and 5S principles (mainframe and PC based).
7. Leadership qualities with a focus towards the principles of Total Quality Management and previous work experience in an ISO/TS/QS/AS certified company.
