An Edinburgh-based Tech-for-good start up is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, with good experience using ReactJS and TypeScript, to join their hybrid team. Opportunity to work for an organisation that will genuinely improve the quality of life for so many people.
They've been operating for a few years now and have developed a revolutionary device for the healthcare industry that's aimed to help improve mobility. You'll be joining the software side of the business and will be responsible for one of their main web applications, this will be a business-critical function for their device.
You'll be working alongside two other techies within this side of the business, so will have others to help get you up to speed, bounce ideas off and offer support. However, they will be focused on other products/services and you'll be given full ownership of this application - so they're really looking for a confident Software Engineer that's looking a challenging role.
The application is currently in a functional state, but it's very much within its infancy and they're looking for someone to come in and really expand this product out and within time help to scale. It's written in ReactJS on the Front End with NodeJS and TypeScript on the Back End, they use a SQL database, and it's hosted on AWS. So, you'll ideally feel comfortable with most of this tech stack, however they can be somewhat flexible on certain technologies, especially in relation to the Back End providing you're willing and able to upskill.
What would really make a candidate stand out for this role is prior experience working on an early SaaS product for a tech start-up, bonus points if that's also within the Healthcare/Medical sector - however this is definitely not a requirement.
Their offices are based on the West side of Edinburgh, with parking available onsite and good public transport links. They do support hybrid working here and you'll be expected onsite about once a week to meet with your colleagues - they're genuinely a really friendly and social bunch; many are into their outdoor activities so meeting your colleagues for a Munro Walk at the weekend isn't out of the norm here (also definitely not a requirement for the role!).
In return they're able to offer a salary of £50k - £65k + benefits. There is also lots of opportunity for career progression here as the company have pretty ambitious growth plans, they aim to grow headcount later this very year. They've suggested this hire would be in an ideal position for technical leadership responsibilities down the line, should they want this.
