MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNABILITY: • Production of a Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan prior to project commencement. • Health and Safety to be planned and managed in conjunction with the support of the H&S Manager for a particular project. • Ensure all relevant documents are in place, in line with company procedures, prior to any project starting on site. • Monitoring quality and health and safety and welfare standards via regular site visits. • Ensuring all accident, incident or near misses are reported on in a timely and efficient manner to Senior Management utilising current practices and procedures laid down. • Identify the appropriate resource requirements for projects at an early stage and update and maintain for inclusion and/or inform into the monthly reports (Divisional and/or Group as required). • Schedule and maintain sufficient allocation of appropriate resource to all projects, in a timely manner. • Taking part and/or chairing Design Development meetings. • Chairing coordination & pre let meetings with subcontractors to ensure smooth running of the project. • Prepare for, attend and lead if required, Project Progress Meeting with comprehensive progress reports as per the company templates. • Focus on ways to enhance the commercial value of the business by managing costs at site level and attending as far as practical the monthly CVR / Project Review meetings. • Ensuring that information is received in a timely way via regular upkeep of the RFI schedules. • Managing the relationship with the Design Team. • Heading Design Development on D&B Projects. • Ensuring all pre-start planning conditions have been satisfied and contact established with Building Control. • Create a PEP (Project Execution Plan) – utilising SML standard format ensure, with support from the Commercial Manager, the PEP document is compiled in a timely fashion for sign off by Divisional Director where required. • Assess operational and commercial risks with Project Teams. • Monitor the training needs to ensure the Project Delivery Teams are competent and possess the relevant training to undertake their role. • Monitoring and maintaining control over the programme, procurement schedule and environmental plan. • Ensure the correct processes are in place and being implemented to achieve project completion within cost and time parameters, to the required quality standards, striving for zero defects. • Regular spot checks on adherence to project specification, drawings and appropriate industry standards. Check the validity of the records held on Fieldwire for future reference. • Significant project risks to be reported to the Operational Manager and Divisional Lead as soon as they become apparent to ensure delivery strategies are aligned and agreed before communicating back to the Delivery Team, the management plan and potential commercial investment in the project. • Writing contractual notice letters with the Commercial Manager in line with whatever form of contract is in use. • Ensure Project Teams maintain clear and concise records with regards to delay and disruption (ie. as built programmes, timelines etc.) • Managing the relationship with the client to the best effect. • Arrange where required Collaborative Planning Workshops with full participation from Client, Consultants and Supply Chain. • Coach teams on the method of working for the future execution of planned construction works. • Disseminate Best Practice and Lessons Learnt. • Ensure the management and process of post completion. PDRs will be conducted on an annual basis with your relevant staff and set clear direction and performance related objectives. Ensure that Divisional Teams are also carrying out their PDRs in a timely fashion and outcomes are being managed. • Strive for new approaches and encourage others to do the same, clearly identifying the benefits and associated risks to be able to make a fully informed decision. • Review and audit monthly project progress reports in conjunction with the CVRs/Project Reviews and site visits, providing an informed overview of the project status for informing into the monthly Divisional Report. • Comply with all Speller Metcalfe processes, and actively assist with improving the company processes.
