We currently looking for a Mental Health Support Worker for our Rehabilitation Unit in Westbourne, Bournemouth. Nightingale House is a 13 bedded, mixed gender rehab unit set on the Alumhurst Rd site within walking distance to both Westbourne shops & the beach. The unit supports people who have chronic & disabling mental health problems that may be treatment resistant, often providing a stepping stone for those who have previously spent long periods in hospital. The unit works closely with our Community Rehab Team to provide a seamless transition from inpatient into the community, ensuring the patient is supported on this stage of their recovery journey. Staff work hard to facilitate further recovery, that can include supporting self-medication, gaining skills for more independent living such as cooking, shopping, budgeting and supporting individuals to access community activities (leisure and vocational). Our vision is to provide a service that is fully integrated with the local community and the resources it can provide. This role requires someone who is motivated, driven and passionate about delivering an outstanding service for the individuals we serve. Induction will be provided, as well as additional and varied training opportunities. Main duties of the job You will be working within the multi-disciplinary team to provide care and treatment to patients accessing inpatient rehabilitation using a wide range of nursing interventions working within national guidelines. This role includes: Working under the leadership of a Registered Mental Health Nurse Supporting the provision of care to meet patient's needs including physical, psychological and social Ensuring the environment is safe and therapeutic when nursing patients with high risk behaviours Implementing co-produced and individualised care plans and contribute to evaluation of these interventions Engage patients in a variety of activities both on the ward and off the ward Promote freedom of choice, autonomy and least restrictive practice, in a safe and therapeutic environment If you have the ability to interact well with people, are passionate, willing to listen to what they have to say and are interested in learning and applying new skills then we would like to hear from you. Although experience working within healthcare, specifically mental health, is desirable, we would welcome individuals who do not have this experience.
