Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our global leading client is looking for a qualified accountant to join them as Financial Controller on a 12 month fixed term contract working in a hybrid manner with 3 days in the office. The position is to start any time from now to the middle of January.
This job would suit a technically strong ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant to cover the current incumbent who is being seconded into an SAP upgrade project and be responsible for being a key contributor to the financial control environment ensuring ownership of local processes and managing company-wide requirements.
Due to the nature and scope of the role and business structure, an individual making their first move out of Practice will be considered but so will an experienced Financial Accountant or Financial Controller who will be given more across the Division.
Working in this evolving and innovative company that is a global leader in its field with a global turnover over £3Bn, this business works in a matrix divisional structure ultimately reporting into Europe but acts as one of the 'go to' functions in Europe for leading projects, advising on change and improvements as well as driving any technical finance developments. This is the case with this SAP project as this will be the second country in EMEA to Go Live.
The successful individual will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified and will have a strong technical accounting background but may have moved into a more all-round or commercial role more recently. The role would suit someone trained either in Practice or in Industry and will have the ability to run accurate reporting and strong financial controls whilst being able to liaise with non-finance people as appropriate across the Division. Beyond the accounting skill set, strong communication skills are essential as one of the key successes in this job will be to help with the potentially challenging stakeholder management that finance may have to face with any teething problems once SAP goes live in August 2025.
Duties will include:
* Manage the month-end and annual close process ensuring financial and accounting processes comply with Corporate and local policies.
* Be the main contributor for external and internal reporting, including audits, tax, VAT and other regulatory reporting to local authorities.
* Act as key controls manager, ensuring compliance with SOx requirements, internal Quality Management, and act as key point of contact for enforcing controls with other functions/divisions/teams.
* Manage the balance sheet, enforcing company policies and safeguarding company assets, including fixed asset register management, assessing completeness of accruals, and reviewing manual payments, disbursements, etc.
* Provide accounting support in other areas attached to local Finance such as accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, accruals and prepayments, and payroll based overseas.
* Support the Divisional Finance Director in local, EMEA or Global Finance projects and handling accounting and finance queries from non-finance teams.
* Support the Divisional Finance Director in directing and controlling the activities and budget of one or more functional areas.
