Our client who supplies speciality chemicals and support services to the global Energy sector is seeking a Technical Manager- Completions and Drilling to join their business to support continuous growth.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical support to the Completions & Drilling department and manufacturing facilities. To be the centre of expertise, research, develop new products and be client facing when required.
Core Responsibilities and Key Tasks
• To work with the Business Development team to develop new and existing products for Completions & Drilling.
• Produce/review of output from technical department – reports etc.
• Provide support for current products by ensuring that registrations are up-to-date and complete data sets are available for sales team
• Be aware of technical developments by contacts with raw material suppliers, sales teams, customer contacts, conferences and symposia etc. as opportunities arise
• Prioritise and respond to demands of Business development teams and warehouse/yard by negotiation where necessary to achieve the best overall outcome with resources available
• Respond to technical developments in terms of equipment and techniques, so as to provide the most cost effective support for the company
• Support manufacturing by developing manufacturing procedures commensurate with customer requirements and yard facilities
• Make appropriate recommendations for technical development of yard facilities when this is required
• Be aware of legislative limitations on Company activities (REACH,CLP,COMAH,DSEAR etc.) in order to select the best materials and processes
• Training and development of technical staff on Completions & Drilling products where needed.
• Liaison with the Lab Manager to ensure that laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained.
• Manage the generation and preservation of company IP including archiving/storage of product designs, documentation of know-how, preparation of patent applications and general maintenance of the company’s IP portfolio
Other responsibilities:
Be aware of and adhere to requirements of the company’s policies, objectives and systems in regard to Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management.
Subject to the Company’s workload, perform any other tasks within your capabilities for the Company as required by the Senior Management Team.
Education:
Science Degree or equivalent.
Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word)
Industry Experience:
Must have worked in a laboratory running projects. Experience in Lubricants, breakers and processes relevant to completions and Drilling.
Reporting
This position reports into Global Business Manager Completions & Drilling.
