Visitor Experience Supervisor – Temporary Contract October 24 to August 25
As a member of the Economic Development Team, the post holder will be required to:
1. Assist in the organisation, implementation and evaluation of a range of tourism initiatives aimed at providing a quality visitor experience and to represent Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council as required outside the City at trade fairs, exhibitions, meetings, seminars and conferences.
2. Supervise the delivery of a co-ordinated visitor experience provision including the development of digital, human, financial and physical resources to ensure effective and efficient running of the Council Visitor Services.
3. Deputise for the Tourism Development Officer as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be responsible to the Tourism Development Officer for delivering a quality visitor experience, maintaining consistently high standards of customer service, in line with Tourism NI destination standards, and public feedback.
2. Promote the visitor destination through digital platforms, such as website content, photography, and all appropriate social media. Produce and disseminate E-Newsletters, monthly newsletters, retail marketing and promotions to the local tourism and hospitality industry.
3. Supervise a co-ordinated visitor service including the development of all digital, human (including staff rota, Timeware system, sickness policy, and annual leave), financial and physical resources (key holding responsibilities) to ensure the effective running of the Council’s Visitor Services provision.
4. Promote Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area and Northern Ireland as a visitor destination, including attendance at local, national and international tourism exhibitions, including the coordination of the Tourism Exhibition Trailer at events and ensuring that it is stocked and staffed.
5. Complete retail and stock control duties and continually review and monitor levels of stock of all retail goods. Placing orders, receiving deliveries, report discrepancies, record stock, price and display.
6. Assist in the re-design and updating of literature relating to tourism in Lisburn and Castlereagh City and relevant marketing consortia. Procure all up to date publicity and promotional material from relevant sources for display in and distribution from the Visitor Information Centre and other appropriate distribution channels.
7. Deal with multi-channel enquiries with the public, including face to face. Provide information, literature and advice, using product knowledge as appropriate to promote Lisburn and Castlereagh City and Northern Ireland as a visitor destination. Maintain records and statistics of tourism visitor activity. Compile reports and update tourism databases including interactive Visitor Information points.
8. Provide a point of sale service for the sale of retail goods, ticket sales and other retail financial transactions. Reconcile all monies received, prepare and make bank lodgements.
9. Support budget management, including purchasing and management of target income. Prepare profit and loss accounts for audit purposes and oversee the quarterly stock takes.
10. Such other duties as may be allocated by the Tourism Development Officer.

Qualifications
It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:
1. A-levels grade A-C, NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
2. A minimum of three years’ experience in a Customer Service Environment.
3. A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in the tourism industry.
General
1. A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a car or
2. Have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.

Location: Lisburn
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate of pay: £17.59 per hour plus accrued holiday pay
Start Date: 9 October 2024 - 8 August 2025
