About your role: We are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead, manage, and develop an industry leading Engineering team who exhibit a growth mindset. As our Head of Engineering, you will provide strategic direction along with thought and commercial leadership across a diverse group of professional engineers. You'll be accountable to integrate with sales to quickly mature the feasibility and assess the suitability of an opportunity using project phase gates. If approved, you'll own the engineering and design program to deliver at or ahead of scope, schedule, cost, quality, all while ensuring the safe performance. You will also have experience in standardisation to deliver turnkey energy efficiency, heat and power supply agreements in excess of £100M per annum across multiple technologies which are Combined Heat and Power (CHP), energy storage, heat pump installations, solar, and battery storage while remaining experts on emerging, complimentary, and disruptive technologies. Your role responsibilities will include: Lead, inspire and develop a high performing, multi-disciplinary and diverse team fully empowered to define, drive, and own the design of all technologies (CHP, solar, heat pump, LED lighting, building energy management systems, HVAC, gas generation, and battery storage). Accountable for the utilisation, quality and on time delivery of all design scopes. Selection, management and performance of 3rd party design resources. Ensure robust governance in place particularly in relation to technical, engineering, regulatory, contractual and HSE decision making, supporting good safe business decisions, based on sound commercial evaluation. Ensure the competence and training framework policy and procedures are adhered to meaning each team member attains and maintains the required competency level. Create a continuous improvement culture and deliver innovative solutions that place CBS as the leading player in the UK Energy Solutions marketplace and enable a right first-time engineering delivery, satisfying all key internal metrics and customer specifications. Location: Salford based (circa 2 days p/w) with occasional travel to Windsor and Project Sites. Here's what we're looking for: CEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Essential Senior Project Management Qualification or extensive experience leading a multi project and multi discipline P&L. Experience in successfully assessing feasibility, detailed design and engineering, and delivering major capital projects. Proficiency in developing energy assets on industrial and commercial properties connecting into private networks. In depth understanding of all legislation, regulations, working practices and other codes of practice relevant to the industry. Business knowledge, strong commercial acumen, and understanding of Centrica commercial aims and objectives. Confidence, credibility, and communication skills to drive behavioural and performance improvements as well as change projects. Skilled in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, across multiple locations and projects. Ability to operate at senior level: setting strategy, securing resources, building a high performing team, influencing internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrable experience of driving a culture of continuous improvement.
