Together, they manage two of Scotland’s four Trunk Road Maintenance Contracts (South-East & North-West) for Transport Scotland. In addition, BEAR Scotland leads two major DBFO contracts: M80 Stepps - Haggs and A92 Dundee - Arbroath.
The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join BEAR Scotland’s commercial team, working on a long-term contract with Transport Scotland to manage and maintain the Scottish Trunk Road Network. Based at the Perth office, this role offers a hybrid working model with three days in the office and two days working remotely.
The standard working hours are 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will ensure the effective delivery of the commercial function within the Contract by collaborating with the team to:
* Measure and value the progress of works based on a schedule of rates.
* Collect, collate, and store relevant measurement data.
* Ensure operational teams complete all site and measurement records.
* Manage Subcontractors, including assessing applications, preparing payment notices, and calculating monthly liabilities and accruals.
* Report on cost/value analysis for various projects.
Your Skills and Experience
We are looking to hear from candidates who possess the following skills and qualifications:
Essential:
* Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management degree or equivalent qualification.
* Proven Quantity Surveying experience.
Desirable:
* Background in civil or construction environments.
* Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to manage, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
* Effective communication and interaction skills.
* Sound knowledge of MMHW.
