Our client is currently seeking a dedicated NRSWA Inspector to join their team on a contract basis. As an Engineer (NRSWA Inspector), you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards in street works and highway operations. This role involves a mix of office work and site inspections, providing a diverse and engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and report on highway works by performing inspections under NRSWA, including the inspection of works, reinstatements, and ironwork
Ensure all works promoters comply with signing, lighting, and guarding requirements as per Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the "Safety at Street Works and Road Works: a code of Practice
Check that works promoters adhere to the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways
Maintain detailed records of inspections to facilitate the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRSWA inspections, Section 74, Fixed Penalty Notices, and approvals for skips, scaffolding, and hoarding
Conduct permit compliance checks
Assist in the coordination of highway works, events, and temporary obstructions to ensure compliance with safety legislation
Respond to enquiries and service requests promptly
Support Co-ordination Officers and other staff to deliver an efficient service that meets performance targets
Job Requirements:
Experience in street works inspections and NRSWA requirements
Full NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
A full and valid driving licence with the capability to drive a council vehicle, or a willingness to undertake and pass a council driving test
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of work
Excellent communication skills and ability to respond effectively to enquiries
Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation meticulously
Proficiency in inspecting and reporting on street works compliance
